How The Grinch Stole Christmas was on television in October…a full two months before Christmas. From the looks of that, he may have stolen Thanksgiving, too. You’d think someone had, if you look at all the pre-Thanksgiving Christmas sales. Well, surrender now. The shopping season is already here.
Though your method of holiday gift shopping may be tried and true for you (first minute, last minute, or maybe you Christmas shop in February. If that’s the case, read no further), one can always make good use of new ideas…especially if they help navigate malyou l traffic and avoid adding a collision repair bill to your Christmas list.
For your safety (and possibly your sanity), we’ve gathered some tips and tricks you can use to make your holiday parking lot challenges easier and less painful, for both you and your vehicle.
Turn Off and Turn In
Distractions like cellphones, earbuds, or even radio can get in the way of your focus in holiday and mall traffic…at a time when you need to be fully engaged. So turn them off when you turn in to the parking lot. You don’t know what those other people are about to do on the road, so keep your eyes on them instead of that text message.
Willing to Walk?
You should be, because if you do, that small act of hiking a few extra hundred feet of parking lot can make a great difference in your attitude…since you won’t be snarling and crawling around all the other shoppers who just have to get close to an entrance. Avoid that, and you’ll be off to a good start on your shopping trip.
Find Your Patience
One key to keeping your sanity in the midst of shopping traffic is to find your reserve of patience, and maybe pack a little extra. Remaining calm rather than getting angry or driving aggressively sets your mind right for the patience you’ll soon need in store lines.
